Porto Heli Stay Sail

Stay at our 4* Beach Club and enjoy a week of inclusive activities, kids clubs and watersports before you take to your yacht and cruise the stunning Saronic sea, also known as the ‘Greek Riviera’.

Enjoy the most beautiful sailing in the Aegean and tour around cultural highs like the Franchthi caves (the oldest human dwelling in the world), and the islands of Spetses and Hydra where art is the culture, cars are banned and donkeys rule the road.

A week at our Beach Club

Enjoy your first week at our waterfront Beach Club in the cosmopolitan harbour town of Porto Heli. 'Heli’ as it’s known to the locals has lots of fantastic watersports for all abilities with sandy beaches and some excellent bike rides with lots of ancient Greek history and cultural sights to explore. Expect a holiday with as much to do off the water as on it.

Spend your week getting the kids hooked on sailing, brushing up your dinghy sailing skills or just relax and enjoy the hotel facilities before you get-away-from-it-all aboard your yacht in week two.

A week cruising the ‘Greek Riviera’

After a week at our Club get ready for a second week aboard your yacht - skippered or Bareboat - to explore the idyllic islands and clearwater anchorages of the Saronic sea. You can choose from a selection of yachts between 37 and 51 feet

The local sailing area will give you a taste of classical Greece and highlights like the islands of Hydra and Spetses or the caves at Franchthi, (the oldest human dwelling in the world). You can sail to the ancient city of Nafplion with its intense Medieval atmosphere; and visit Kaparissi, dubbed one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages of Greece’.

Choose your yacht

You can choose from our ‘elite fleet’ of yachts for your Stay Sail holiday and go skippered or Bareboat. We have 37 to 41-foot yachts and a luxury 51-foot Oceanis to choose from.

Your yacht will be your home for the week so it’s equipped with everything you need. You’ll have a fully kitted galley, (that’s a kitchen to you and me) with a cooker, a fridge and everything else including the kitchen sink. There’s a shower in the heads (that’s a bathroom) and double sleeping cabins with sofa seating in the saloon and a saloon berth for extra bods. There’s a table in the cockpit for alfresco dining and a large drop-down swim platform to enjoy those clearwater anchorages. Every yacht is fully prepared for your arrival; so you just need to provision for food and drink at the local grocery stores.

Sailing experience needed

To charter a yacht anywhere in Greece then you’ll need to have a piece of paper to prove your skills, such as the International Bareboat Skipper or RYA Day Skipper/ICC qualification.

If you don’t have the necessary certificates, then why not try a Stay Sail in Vassiliki? We have a training yacht at our Beach Club and you can take a Day Skipper course with us during your first week while your family relaxes at the Club. This will qualify you to skipper your own yacht in week two. To join a Day Skipper course you’ll need to have done a minimum of 100 miles (5 days) on a cruising yacht - so if you’ve been an active crew member on a previous flotilla, you should be at the right standard.

Rediscover the sailor in you!

A Stay Sail holiday allows you to make use of our inclusive dinghy sailing and windsurfing tuition during your first week. Our expert team of RYA instructors will help you rediscover your sailing skills and also get the family hooked on sailing.

You can also join in with our daily sailing regattas or perhaps take an RYA Dinghy course (levels 1 to 3) and we’ll guarantee you’ll be trimming your yachts sails with expert precision.

Vassiliki is a mecca for water sports enthusiasts. It enjoys reliable thermal winds for all levels, which deliver gentle conditions in the morning, (ideal for kids age 4+); and in the afternoons you can expect more exciting sailing and windsurfing as the wind builds. Our racks are stocked with more watersports equipment than you can shake a kayak paddle at, and it’s all free-to-use all week.

What’s included on a Stay Sail

What to expect

A Stay Sail is the perfect twin center break. Your travel to our Beachclub and to the marina is all taken care of. You will fly into Athens or Kalamata airport and after a 2hr 45min transfer, (don’t worry, it’s worth it for the sailing!), you’ll arrive at our 4* Nautica Bay Beach Club and be able to relax at the hotels’ private beach, try some watersports or just chill at the beach bar and plan your first week of activities by signing up to our socials, kids clubs, paddle cruises, Sailaways and RYA courses for dinghy and windsurfing.

After a week of inclusive activities and inclusive catering with our ‘Club board’ package you’ll spend a last, 7th day, relaxing at the club before joining your yacht in the afternoon. Our yachts are moored right at the Hotel’s own private pontoon, so you can kick back and enjoy the watersports and facilities right up until you move onboard.

Our yacht team will tell you about the week’s plans and run through the yacht's systems before a more in-depth skippers briefing over breakfast (which is on us) at the hotel restaurant on Monday morning.

OUR AEGEAN FLOTILLA

Skippered Luxury charter

Why not try our luxury yacht, the Beneteau Oceanis 51.1 on a two week Stay Sail holiday. It’s the perfect base for a relaxing week or two away from it all. This fast cruising yacht will reach far-flung places away from the tourist crowds and visit a new clearwater anchorage each day. Your skipper will be on hand to do as much (or as little) of the sailing as you choose.

Your skipper will live onboard in a crew cabin (which is accessed separately to the main accommodation) so you have complete privacy in the yacht.

OUR OCEANIS 51.1

Wind, weather and conditions

The wind force is generally between 1-3 (4-10 Knots) in the mornings and force 3-5 (7-18 knots) in the afternoons, between May and October. Most days start the same with a gentle morning that gradually builds to offer more exciting, but manageable sailing after lunch. Compared to the Ionian you can expect longer distances, approximately 15-20nm per day, and mostly line-of-sight navigation which requires basic knowledge of charts and an understanding of how to sail in open water.

More intermediate experience is required, but this cruise is well within the capability of a previously qualified RYA Day Skipper.

There will be plenty of time to top up your tan with temperatures reaching 32 to 36 degrees in July and August, with little to no rain. Expect warm nights and living in your swimming costume with little need for much in the way of warm clothing.
