If you’ve already sailed before, then you’re going to love our Beach Clubs. Each one has been picked for its idyllic sailing conditions which suit all levels. If you can already sail then you’ll be able to ‘free-sail’ our top-notch sailing dinghies all week, or if you’d like to develop your sailing skills, then join one of our RYA courses of lessons and we’ll send you home a confident light winds sailor.

As an improving sailor, you’ll enjoy heading out into our sailing area and making use of our great range of boats which are free to use all week. What you’ll learn

Like all our courses, Level 2 is run by our own expert team of British RYA instructors and follows our ‘Fast Forward’ coaching techniques. It sets out the foundations of sailing for you and by the end of it you'll be a competent light wind sailor.

We’ll cover better boat handling, tacking, gybing, capsize techniques, rigging, launching and safety. All essential skills to progressing the sport after your week with us. We also provide a short introduction to more progressive techniques like sailing with spinnakers and trapezing.

Level 2 is spread over 2 to 4 days (10-12 hours tuition) with lots of opportunities to free-sail and practice in between. You should easily come away with your RYA Level 2 Sailing certificate. Courses are for ages 14+. Under 13’s can join our free kids club (5 days) with sailing and windsurf tasters; 8-12’s can join our Youth Squad for dedicated tuition.

What’s the course like?

Level 2 dinghy is a fun and practical course and almost all of it is on the water. You’ll make firm friendships with your fellow sailors and have lots to share as you progress at your own pace.

After a short session of shore-based training using a simulator to refresh you with boat controls, it’s out on the water with your instructor where the excitement begins. Expect lots of support from our team, where the emphasis is on fun and fast learning - aided by the reliable wind conditions and flat water.

This course is designed to give you lots of water-time in single and double handed boats like Lasers, Bahia’s and Hartley’s You’ll have plenty of time to perfect manoeuvres and brush up your skills, so we can send you home a confident light winds sailor.

We’ll cover lots of skills. But you can expect to try roll tacking, gybing and capsize techniques with a short intro’ to advanced modules like sailing with spinnakers. If you’re staying for two weeks, then why not take your Level 3 as well?

Racing

Join in with our fun and light-hearted dinghy races which are held during the week. We’ll give a short introduction to the world of racing so that you can take part in our events with tips on starting, finishing, tactics and the basic rules of racing.

Our racing is aimed at Level 2-3 intermediates to more advanced ‘club racers’ and is very sociable. We generally run a mid-week and end-of-week regatta for class boats like the Laser fleet, and handicap racing for mixed fleets. It’s all about taking part and having fun, (with prizes too!). A great chance to show your competitive side too!

Dinghy Cruising

Discover the adventurous world of dinghy cruising. Take part in our sociable cruises and enjoy the feeling of longer-distance sailing as you cruise in company to a nearby island or beach stopover with instructors and support boats to guide the flotilla.

Our cruises suit single and double handed boats, or family boats with a multiple of crew, so choose your vessel and pick your mates and sign up to join in. You will learn about cruise planning, safety and basic navigation; along with long distance sailing skills to give you a taste for this truly inspirational past-time. The flotilla will often cruise to another island or beach for a mid-morning stop over, to enjoy a swim or a coffee and ice cream. Cruises run from all centres, but we recommend Porto Heli and Horto-Pelion for the best programmes.

Available in all our centres: Half to 3/4 day.

Where’s best for Improvers?

All our resorts offer perfect conditions for Improver sailors, where reliable winds and warm, waist-deep waters (along with expert instructors) help to quicken the learning curve.

Learning has never been easier with our up-to-date kit and the Ocean Elements ‘Fast Learning’ principles. We run RYA ‘Basic Skills’ Improver courses in all our centres and they’re very good value; you’ll get lots out of them and meet many other likeminded guests to share the good times with.

Nautica Bay in Porto Heli is our specialist sailing centre and has the greatest range of kit and tuition options. But all our centres are ideal for Improvers.

Private tuition

Our holidays include enough tuition to get started. However, you may prefer some extra, more focussed tuition, either as a ‘1-on-1 or ‘1-on-2’ session to take alongside (or instead of) a full RYA course. ‘Privates’, as we call them, will help you focus on a specific technique or skill and is very valuable when coupled with lots of time on the water to practice what you’ve learnt. Privates are available as a paid-for extra in resort and they start at £34 per hour with support boat cover.

The very best Instructors

Our friendly team of British instructors are all fully qualified RYA (Royal Yachting Association) professionals. They are on hand to help you rig-up and launch, teach sailing groups, give advice, tips and guidance for all levels from beginner to advanced. They play an active role both on and off the water in all parts of your holiday, so outside of lessons they’re fun and approachable and love to be bought a beer in the bar after your epic sailing lesson!
