About the Flotilla

Our Hydra Flotilla and Flexi Flotilla is run from our 4* Beach Club in Porto Heli which makes it perfect for a two week Stay Sail holiday. We visit cultural hot spots, like the typically Greek Ermioni and the famous islands of Spetses and Hydra, which is rich in local art and cars are banned - so donkeys rule the road.

You’ll really enjoy this beautiful sailing area - which is often referred to as the Greek Riviera. Our flotilla cruises around some of the best islands and ports in classical Greece and you’ll get to explore the mythical and sheltered waters of the Argolic Gulf. You’ll enjoy your own 'private swimming pool’ off the back of the yacht, clearwater anchorages and secret beaches galore.

Why not try our Flexi Flotilla which allows you to drop in and out of our flotilla for meals ashore and kids fun and games.

Arrival day

Our flotilla starts at our 4* Beach Club in Porto Heli. It’s a 2hr 30min transfer from Athens airport, but it’s worth it! On arrival at our club, you will meet the Ocean Elements lead crew and be introduced to your yacht.

After a short welcome meeting to show you the systems onboard it will be time to unpack and get acquainted with your new home before going for a drink and a meal ashore; and a chance to meet the other flotilla sailors. Early arrivals will enjoy making use of our hotel bar and pool, or provisioning for your week in Porto Heli’s grocery stores.

Day 1: Porto Heli to Ermioni

  • 14 Nautical miles
  • 3-4 hours sailing
  • Anchor on Spetses for a lunchtime swim

After a skippers briefing in the hotel over a hearty breakfast, (which is included) we will run through the week’s plans and give some technical advice on mooring, anchoring, safety and seamanship. The lead crew will then help you cast off. It’s an easy 14-15-mile sail east to the pretty harbourside town of Ermioni and we often have a welcome punch party.

The traditional architecture and the natural beauty of Ermioni Greece attracts many families. We will have  a group meal ashore and on the way across you can anchor in one of many bays on the island of Spetses for a lunchtime swim.

Day 2: Ermioni to Poros Town

  • 20 Nautical miles
  • 4-6 hours sailing
  • Anchor on Nisos Dokos for a lunchtime swim

It’s a lovely sail to Poros, slightly longer and with beautiful anchorages along the way. We’ll run some kids games on arrival, and family entertainments like our flotilla boat quiz before enjoying a group meal ashore.

Poros Town is the centre of the island’s activity. What’s more, in this picturesque town, you’ll find a great selection of shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Day 3: Poros Town to Hydra

  • 12-13 Nautical miles
  • 4 hours sailing
  • Many lunchtime anchorages on the way

We’ll visit one of the most picturesque harbours in Greece. It can get quite popular, so we may raft up in the peaceful Mandraki Bay and walk round the scenic cliff top into town for a meal ashore.

Day 4: Hydra to Spetses or Porto Heli

  • 15-18 Nautical miles
  • 4-5 hours sailing
  • Many lunchtime anchorages on the way

Our flotilla lead boat will often head back to our Beach Club in Porto Heli and you can join them if you’d like to make use of a free day of water sports and biking, or for your kids to join our kids club on Freesail day.

Alternatively, why not visit the main harbour at Spetses over freesail day which has an array of restaurants and shops. A beautiful island and a cultural high point. Or choose from several crystal water anchorages on the north west coast

Day 5: Spetses to Plaka

  • 13-14 Nautical miles
  • 4 hours sailing
  • Stop at any one of Spetses many anchorages for lunch and a swim

For our penultimate day, we like to head south-west to the port of Plaka in Leonidio which is as impressive a town as any in Greece with vistas over to Spetses. It has a small population and a traditional feel, with fishing boats, visiting yachts and a wide selection of tavernas and cafes with fresh fish as their speciality. Plaka has two beaches, both sandy and protected with cafes and snack bars and have been awarded blue flags for being among the cleanest in Greece.

Day 6: Plaka to Porto Heli

  • 17-18 Nautical miles
  • 6-5 hours sailing
  • Try a clearwater anchorage on Spetses for lunch and a swim

It’s a great sail back to Porto heli and Spetses can be navigated to the north for some lovely anchorages before you head back into the harbour. We like to get back to our Beach Club marina for around 5 pm so you can refuel (our lead crew will help you to do this) before mooring up in the tranquillity of Porto Heli. Soon after you moor up, we’ll be aboard to let you know about your travel plans for the following day. We then like to gather ashore for a farewell drink and awards ceremony in our Beach Club bar.

Staying for two weeks? Your extra day sailing!

If you are staying for two weeks on flotilla, then you can bypass Porto Heli and sail through changeover day to get an extra day ‘Free Sailing’. After our leadboat has welcomed the new arrivals then why not hook up with the flotilla again, or just go bareboat cruising?
