Pelion wind information

Typical pattern:

Mornings: F1-2

Afternoons: F3-4/5

The general pattern in Horto, Pelion is a Force 1-2 wind in the morning, changing to a Force 3-4 cross-offshore wind in the afternoon, with Force 5 winds a regular occurrence offering up exciting planing conditions!

The early morning light winds provide beginners and families with the perfect learning environment.

As the winds build after lunch, a moderate wind strength helps all levels to get planing on their boards in more exciting conditions, though never too extreme... and simply guaranteeing lots of fun.

Eating Out and Nightlife

The village of Horto will provide you with a quintessentially Greek dining experience; fish caught fresh that morning is brought to your table and then cooked to perfection, or try one of the much loved slow baked dishes such as beef stifado or lamb lection.

And if you simply can’t decide, order some mezze which is a fabulous way to try a little bit of everything and a great sociable way to get your evening started.

The larger, neighbouring town of Milina is a short cycle ride away (2-3km) and offers a busier, more lively atmosphere with a greater selection of restaurants and bars to choose from, and a wonderful promenade to enjoy a stroll along whilst the clear waters lap at the beach.

Tuition and RYA courses

All our tuition is delivered as a full, 5 day RYA course so you can go home with a new internationally recognised qualification at the end of your stay. It’s a great way to learn in a sociable group with other guests.

Level 1 RYA ‘Start Sailing’: Included for Free

3hrs/5 days

Boat controls, sailing a triangular course, turning around, safety & fun!

Level 2 RYA ‘Basic Skills’: Included for Free

3hrs/5 days

Sailing in moderate winds, your first gybes and advanced tacks, man overboard recovery, picking up a mooring, sailing backwards, trapezing, an introduction to spinnakers & more!

Tuition and RYA courses

Level 3 RYA ‘Intermediates’: Paid for option

Taken as private sessions 1-2 hrs p/session

Same content as Level 2 but fine-tuning those skills: rigging, launching, sailing in all directions. An introduction to advanced modules via taster-sessions; like spinnakers.

Level 4 RYA ‘Advanced Modules’: Paid for option

Taken as private sessions 1-2 hrs p/session

Advanced kit tuning, spinnakers, race tactics, rudderless sailing, roll tacking, roll gybing and requests!

About Pelion

The Pelion peninsula is one of the most naturally beautiful regions in all of Greece with breathtaking views over the Pagasetic Gulf.

Typically Greek and traditional, Pelion offers a wonderful holiday experience with pretty villages, lots of culture, biking, walking and water sports that will tick all your boxes!

With awards for beach cleanliness and magnificently clear waters, it is unsurprising that Sailors and Windsurfers enjoy the region’s warm and reliable winds in this expansive sailing area which is dotted with islands to moor up to and explore.

Kayakers and SUP'ers will also love the calm morning waters and array of coves to visit.
